THE ARTIST
BJ Sosa is a Canadian-born, self-taught artist deeply inspired by the landscapes, people, history, and culture of Canada. Born in Calgary, Alberta, in 1980, BJ has always felt a strong connection to the Rocky Mountains and the wide-open skies of the prairie.
Drawn to art from a young age, BJ discovered early on that painting was a natural outlet for his creativity and imagination. At eight years old, participating in an Olympic mural project helped affirm his artistic ambitions and set him on a lifelong creative path.
Working primarily with acrylic and ink on canvas, BJ creates intuitively, drawing inspiration from the energy, atmosphere, and beauty of the natural world. His work reflects a deep connection to Canada's wilderness and the landscapes that have shaped his sense of belonging.
At the heart of his work is a simple idea: painting the places that brought me home.
